Family Ties

Albion Correctional Facility is the largest women's prison in New York State. It is also the farthest from New York City, from which the majority of its prisoners come--and to which they return upon release. As at all of the State's other medium-security prisons, visiting is on weekends only. The trip of more than 400 miles from New York City takes more than eight hours by car, and there is no viable system of public transportation. The voyage, difficult for everyone wishing to maintain ties with Albion inmates, is especially hard for young children eager to visit their mothers.

Osborne's Family Ties program facilitates those encounters between mother and child. Family ties offers parenting services to mothers, arranges extended and structured mother-child visits in prison, and--in addition--provides family re-unification services upon release.
