“If I had to say how Osborne helped me or changed me, I’d have to say it has given me a mental makeover because I’m always thinking about what is my next step. There are doors open to me now that weren’t before.”
- Joseph McFadden, participant
The Osborne Association’s Justice Community program offers eight weeks of environmental literacy, job readiness training and career exploration opportunities for court-involved young adults between 18 and 24 years old residing in the Bronx. In addition to the various workshops provided, Justice Community participants engage in Community Benefit Projects in the Bronx area. Justice Community provides participants the opportunity to explore potential career choices and the support to develop individualized service plans designed to assist them in achieving their goals. The Justice Community program teaches participants what it means to be truly job ready by engaging them in service learning opportunities and allowing them to network with local organizations and businesses. Community Benefit Projects and Civic Engagement opportunities are critical in developing participants’ leadership skills and allowing community members to see the positive role that young people can play in improving their communities.
Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 24 (and up to 30), been involved with the criminal justice system within the last year, and live in the following zip codes in the Bronx:
