Our Advocacy

With the partnership and leadership of directly affected people, our policy team advocates for a justice system that recognizes every person’s capacity to change and fosters safety and healing across generations.

Our Advocacy Final Illustration
The Osborne Center for Justice Across Generations is dedicated to building a justice system that promotes healing, safety, accountability, and real opportunities to thrive.

Working alongside Osborne’s programs in jails, prisons, courtrooms, and communities, we see the intractable challenges and evolving conditions. We promote solutions that are informed but not bound by the realities of the systems we are trying to change.

Our tools include:
  • The voices and leadership of formerly incarcerated people, the children of incarcerated parents, and directly affected families
  • Collaborative advocacy with community-based and grassroots groups
  • Research, policy analysis, and public education
  • Training and technical assistance to transform institutions and sectors from the inside

Osborne’s 2024 Policy Priorities

Osborne’s Center for Justice Across Generations shares our 2024 policy priorities to advance an approach to justice that is healing-centered, equitable, restorative, and inclusive of communities and alternative solutions.

“Video is just not the same. It's heartbreaking not to see your parent in person.”

Visiting is a lifeline for families, but limited visiting hours at some jails make it difficult to visit and jails across the country are replacing visits with video conferencing. Ask your NY State legislators to pass legislation to protect in-person visits and ensure that evening or weekend visiting hours are offered.
