Marcus Garvey Extension Phase Two Groundbreaking

Celebrating the development of 88 more units of supportive housing for older adults returning from incarceration at Marcus Garvey Phase 2.

On May 14, 2024, Osborne Association, S:US, and L+M Development Partners broke ground on Marcus Garvey Extension Phase II. The development will include 88 supportive units reserved for individuals reentering the community from incarceration.

Urgent health needs, social isolation, and adapting to technology—these and dozens of other unique circumstances make reintegration particularly difficult for older adults, for whom permanent supportive housing is essential.

At the first phase of Marcus Garvey Supportive Housing, our residents are thriving and contributing to their new community. They are seeing health care providers, reconnecting with family, and participating in a wide range of supportive programming. Most of all, they have regained their sense of dignity and belonging. That impact will expand through Marcus Garvey Phase II, at a time when reentry housing is needed more than ever.

Osborne is grateful to collaborate once again with L+M Development Partners to bring this project to life. We thank Governor Kathy Hochul, NYS Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance Acting Commissioner Barbara C. Guin, Assemblymember Latrice Walker, and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso; government partners NYS Homes & Community Renewal (HCR), NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), and NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) for creating life-changing opportunities for New Yorkers.
