The Osborne Green Workforce Development Program provides education and experiences for a career in green energy.

This new program offers students the education and experience needed to enter in-demand careers in the green energy workforce. Our training program exposes you to the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in these fields through apprenticeships, workshops, guest lectures, and mentoring that will prepare and support you as you navigate your career.

    Fiber Optic Cabling Technician Curriculum

    This curriculum aims to provide comprehensive training in fiber optic technology, preparing individuals for careers in the telecommunications and data networking industries. The curriculum covers fundamental concepts, hands-on skills development, and practical applications in fiber optic cabling installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

     

    Participants will learn about the principles of fiber optic technology, including light transmission, fiber types, connectors, and splicing techniques. The curriculum will also cover safety practices, industry standards, and regulations related to fiber optic cabling. Upon completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a successful career in fiber optic cabling.

     

    Hand-ons Training

    Participants will gain practical experience in fiber optic cabling installation, termination, and testing. Participants will have the opportunity to work with fiber optic cables, connectors, and testing equipment under the guidance of experienced instructors.

     

    Modules

    Modules on industry certifications, job readiness skills, and career development will prepare participants for entry-level positions in the fiber optic cabling field.

    Solar Panel Installer Curriculum

    This curriculum provides comprehensive training in solar energy technology, preparing individuals for careers in the growing solar energy industry. The curriculum covers fundamental concepts, hands-on skills development, and practical applications in solar panel installation, maintenance, and system design.

    Participants will learn about the principles of solar energy, including photovoltaic technology, solar panel types, system components, and electrical principles. The curriculum will also cover safety practices, industry standards, and regulations related to solar panel installation. Upon completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue entry-level positions in solar panel installation.

     

    Hands-on Training

    Participants will gain practical experience in solar panel installation, mounting, wiring, and system testing. Participants will have the opportunity to work with solar panels, inverters, mounting hardware, and other equipment under the guidance of experienced instructors.

     

    Modules

    Modules on system sizing, site assessment, shading analysis, and permitting, preparing participants to design and install solar energy systems in a variety of settings. Participants will also learn about industry certifications, job readiness skills, and career development opportunities in the solar energy field.

    Electric Battery Technician Curriculum

    This curriculum provides comprehensive training in electric vehicle battery technology, preparing individuals for careers in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle industry. The curriculum covers fundamental concepts, hands-on skills development, and practical applications in electric battery maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.

    Participants will learn about the principles of electric vehicle battery technology, including battery types, components, charging systems, and safety practices. The curriculum will also cover industry standards and regulations related to electric vehicle battery maintenance and repair. Upon completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue entry-level positions as electric vehicle battery technicians.

     

    Hand-ons Training

    Participants will gain practical experience in battery inspection, testing, replacement, and reconditioning. Participants will have the opportunity to work with a variety of electric vehicle batteries and diagnostic equipment under the guidance of experienced instructors.

     

    Modules

    Modules on battery management systems, vehicle electrification trends, and emerging technologies in the electric vehicle industry. Participants will learn about job readiness skills, industry certifications, and career pathways in the electric vehicle battery technician field.

FAQs

Who will be teaching the courses?

Participants will learn from experienced trainers who have worked for broadband companies such as Verizon and Flume, electric vehicle manufacturers such as Tesla and CATL, and solar companies like SunRun and Tesla. These instructors will be sourced by our partner Maroon Strategist, which provides business and financial consulting services, and will be onsite to train participants.

 

Is it a full-time or part-time program? How long do the training programs last?

These are part-time programs, with scheduling options available for students who may have other commitments such as work or family responsibilities. The training programs can last between 3-5 weeks or 3-5 months depending on the discipline they are being trained on and the agreement with Osborne Association.

 

Are there any scholarships, grants, or financial aid options available for students from underserved communities?

Are there any additional costs for materials, textbooks, or equipment?

No.

 

Can you provide more information about the job placement assistance services offered? 

Osborne Social Ventures will be providing job placement consultants who will be assessing participants before, during and after the training. The job placement consultants will be speaking to job seekers while the classes are being conducted and will ask them to come to the class to recruit on the spot.

 

Are there partnerships with specific companies or organizations for job placements?

Osborne Social Ventures and our affiliates will be working with Flume Internet, SunRun, and ChargerHelp, as well as others.
