Issue/Problem

Young people long to have a voice in shaping the world. Yet the experience of having an incarcerated parent is stigmatizing and silencing. Speaking up can feel intimidating and requires tools. With peer support, adult mentorship, training, and practice, young people become powerful advocates for policies and practices that better serve them and their communities.

What we’re doing

Osborne partners with young people to achieve goals they define in areas that include law, policy, and public opinion. We offer training and opportunities to test and develop leadership skills. Young people organize and carry out advocacy campaigns, plan and implement See Us, Support Us, our national initiative for children of incarcerated parents, and use their powerful voices in our Speakers’ Bureau.
