Justice Works

Open to young adults (ages 16 to 24) who live in the Bronx or Upper Manhattan and are on probation or returning from incarceration, Justice Works provides workforce training and job placement within a supportive community of adult mentors and peers. Young adults are referred to Justice Works by community partners, judges, probation officers, and friends and families of program graduates. Participants receive hard-skills training in the construction and food services industries, assistance in meeting education goals, and preparation to enter and succeed in the job market. We offer access to paid internships, transitional employment in an Osborne social enterprise, and the union-apprenticeship entry program, Pathways 2 Apprenticeship.

Our mentors are “credible messengers” who share the background and experiences of the youth they serve. Whatever professional goals the young adults have, their mentors strive to support them. They also ensure that the program is a safe space where everyone is treated with respect. Young adults who complete the Justice Works program can continue to receive mentoring, training, and employment opportunities in Osborne’s Young Adult Alumni Association.
