My Osborne
Recent reflections from program participants who are at the heart of our work.
“After 24 years in prison, reentering society felt overwhelming, but Osborne gave me the support and guidance I needed to rebuild my life. From securing housing and benefits to learning new skills, Osborne not only helped me find stability but also inspired me to give back and support others on their journey home.”
– Francisco, ReentryWorks graduate

“I spent [a total of] 20 years incarcerated and had always heard about Osborne. In 2020, I had the opportunity to participate in FamilyWorks. When the program ended, I applied for the Osborne clerk position and got it. When I was a clerk, I ran lots of programs at Woodbourne: the Family Center, graduations, and co-facilitated parenting classes. When I think about those times in front of the classroom, I look back with fondness. Osborne gave me a platform and the opportunity to hone my skills as a teacher and mentor. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t have that opportunity.”
– Ayman, FamilyWorks and Family-Focused Discharge Planning graduate who was recently released
“The time and effort staff put in during the program is the most valuable thing about NeON. [Staff members] Piero and Aneta mean the world to me. They went out of their way to help me get something that I thought was impossible. They actually care. NeON helped me get my OSHA flagger certification, and I ended up interviewing, meeting different people, gaining work experience, and getting a better job. Today, I’m successful and able to take care of my family.”
– Anthony, NeON Works Participant
