Osborne Association hosted its 2024 Annual Benefit on October 22 before a crowd of nearly 250 committed supporters. Emceed by Osborne participants Jamila Small and Aylyn Restituyo, this year’s event once again brought together our supportive community of partners, donors, and sponsors for a celebration and a call to action about the important work ahead.

This year, we had the pleasure of honoring two housing leaders who are helping to shape New York City’s future. Jamie Rubin, Chief Investment Officer of Aligned Climate Capital and Board Chair of the NYC Housing Authority (and former Osborne Board Chair), received our Champion of Mission award.

Molly Wasow Park, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Social Services, was our Partner in Innovation. DSS is Osborne’s partner in the Fulton Community Reentry Center, which opened last May.

As Osborne President and CEO Jon Monsalve told the crowd, “Moving ahead together is the only way real change can happen. Together, we have a real shot at correcting the mistakes of the past, and creating a more just future.”

Jeffrey Driver is a participant in Osborne’s LGBTQIA+ Case Management Program. He reflected on the safety and support he found at Osborne, sharing that he has started to, “trust more since starting the program [because] Osborne staff have a drive to help everyone and not be judgmental. They give you the feeling of a safe space.”

The supportive communities found at Osborne offer a space for people to imagine new futures for themselves. “My whole life has changed. I started part-time. Now, I got a good job with benefits. I got my own apartment, got my own car. So really, I am blessed,” said Charles Bryant, who participated in our Kinship Reentry Housing Program and is now permanently housed and employed by Osborne.

Honoree Jamie Rubin emphasized the tireless advocacy of Osborne staff and celebrated current housing initiatives like Kinship, the expanding Marcus Garvey Supportive Housing Program, and Fulton Community Reentry Center. Our critical Fulton partner and second honoree, Commissioner Molly Wasow Park, saluted our shared accomplishments and affirmed the City’s commitment to the future success of Fulton and its residents.

We look forward to moving ahead together and supporting more Osborne participants to thrive.
