Getting Involved With Osborne

*|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|*

October has been a wonderfully busy and productive month here at Osborne. In addition to another successful “See Us Support Us” month of action and awareness, we hosted the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s announcement of Second Chance Grant funding, and we look forward to celebrating during Lighting the Way, our annual fundraiser - to be held as an evening gala for the first time this year.

Tickets to Lighting the Way are still available. Click the image to purchase tickets and to learn more about opportunities to support Osborne:
We invite you to take part in three more opportunities and join us in our work to build a justice system that promotes healing, safety, accountability, and real opportunities to thrive.

Attend the Transgender Day of Remembrance

Join us for our fifth annual “TDOR” gathering, organized and hosted by Osborne LGBT Liaison Grace DeTrevarah. Renowned designer and keynote speaker Qween Jean, other leaders in the trans community, and representatives of Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams will remember those lost to violence and celebrate the accomplishments of the trans community. You can watch a recording of last year’s event here.

This year, event participants will gather in our Hotel Theresa offices in Harlem while attendees will join the event virtually. Register for the event at bit.ly/tdor2022.

Contribute to our Toy Drive

The holiday season is fast approaching! Support our annual Holiday Toy Drive and help make the holidays a joyous time for children with incarcerated family members. Every year, Osborne provides hundreds of toys that families give to their children during visits in Hudson Valley correctional facilities.

See SHARED SENTENCES

Houses on the Moon’s SHARED SENTENCES is a new play about the impact of incarceration on families and loved ones. SHARED SENTENCES evolved out of a series of storytelling workshops with family members of people with incarcerated loved ones. The play explores the toll of incarceration on families and loved ones. The piece is developed from powerful true stories. SHARED SENTENCES is playing at 122 Community Center, 150 1st Avenue, New York, from October 26 - November 12.

On November 6 at 3pm, Osborne’s Zudaydah “Zudy” Rivera will perform her story “Zudaydah With A Backwards Z,” featured in the original SHARED SENTENCES storytelling workshops and on the Houses on the Moon Podcast.

Purchase your tickets here. Osborne staff to attend as a group on November 6 - join us!
