In an average year, Osborne’s programs serve more than 10,000 participants across New York State. At our community sites in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Buffalo, Manhattan, and Newburgh, and in thirty correctional facilities across the state, Osborne offers opportunities for those most affected by the criminal legal system to heal, repair harm, and thrive. †Impact data was compiled from 2020 enrollment, usage, and outcomes statistics.

Our interventions reduce reliance on law enforcement, courts, and incarceration and provide opportunities for success.

  • 78% have no new convictions

    Substance Use Disorder Treatment

    78% of participants who completed our alternative to incarceration program had no new convictions after two years, compared with 63% of all successful discharges from area programs.

  • 80% are connected to medical care within 30 days of release from prison

    Health and Wellness

    Osborne is the only provider in New York State with staff based both inside prisons and in the community to support people with HIV and HCV during their community reentry.

  • 4,000+ enrolled in jail-based reentry

    Reentry Planning and Reintegration

    Osborne works in 5 NYC jails, providing 20 different curriculum-based groups to prepare more than 4,000 people for release each year.

  • 69% have lower felony reconviction rates

    Young Adult Services

    Relative to a matched comparison group, felony reconviction rates among participants in the Arches mentoring program for young adults on probation across NYC are 69 percent lower 12 months after beginning probation.

  • 90% remain housed

    Housing

    More than 90% of people placed through Osborne’s housing unit for people with HIV remain housed one year later. Osborne is partnering in the development of almost 250 units of permanent and transitional housing units for people released from incarceration.

  • 200+ completed prison-based restorative justice programs

    Restorative Justice

    Individuals serving long prison terms for homicide-related offenses who completed our restorative justice program say that they better understand the impact of their choices and accept responsibility for the harm they have done.
