Employment and Education

Those of us with criminal justice histories seek learning and employment for the same reasons anybody does: to support ourselves and our families, be an example to our children, give our lives meaning, and strengthen our attachment to our communities. Exclusion from the opportunity to pursue these goals through schooling and employment lies at the heart of much criminal justice involvement. Centuries of racial injustice and violent oppression lie at the heart of this exclusion.

For the people who come to Osborne, a criminal record can make the path to attaining their goals even steeper. However, despite the challenges they face, these individuals are dedicated to completing their education, finding employment, and forging career paths.

To support them, Osborne offers stabilizing services, training, and academic support to build participants’ skills, stability, and readiness for employment. We offer paid internships, transitional employment in our own ventures, a pathway to union membership, and ongoing support to ensure success on the job.
