On December 9, Osborne and 120 other community organizations launched the 2022 Justice Roadmap to push for interconnected state legislative action to address the criminalization of immigrants and Black and brown communities. In 2021, the campaign achieved significant wins — bail reform, justice for domestic violence survivors, sentencing reform to protect immigrants from deportation, driver’s licenses for New Yorkers regardless of immigration status, the repeal of 50‑a, and keeping ICE out of our courts.

The kick-off meeting celebrated these wins and renewed the call to action for the 2022 campaign. State Senators Julia Salazar and Brad Hoylman, Assembly members Jessica Gonzales-Rojas, Demond Meeks, Phara Souffrant Forrest, RAPP Co-Director of Policy and Communications TeAna Taylor, public defenders, community organizers, and more attended and shared their stories, urging the passage of the bills within the roadmap. Collectively, the implementation of the bills would measurably improve the lives of millions of New Yorkers.
